Lab value normal/high/low classifier game.
Lab value normal/high/low classifier game.

Lab results can be intimidating. Pages of numbers with reference ranges, "H" and "L" flags, and abbreviations you may not recognize arrive in your patient portal — sometimes before your doctor has had a chance to review them. This classifier game helps you build intuition about whether a result is broadly within a common range or outside it. You are shown a fictional patient result and asked to classify it as likely normal, likely elevated, or likely low based on typical adult reference ranges printed on most lab reports. Click your answer and see the explanation. This skill — reading the reference range printed right on the report — is something every patient can develop with a little practice. As always, your own reference range targets may differ based on age, health conditions, medications, or lab methods; your provider interprets results in the context of your full clinical picture.
